I need to find something to put on wood, to keep it real smooth

Make your box out of UHMW. You could get a block & just route out the channel. It's as slick as teflon but very tough. I use .010 sheet in shotshells for pellet wraps and it holds up to that. 2cents
And btw Nice Shooting!!!
