My Savage striker came from the factory as a 7-08. I bought a 223 barrel for it and have a question about swapping bolt heads. Should I order a left hand or right hand bolt head? I think it should be a right hand because the port is on the right. Also, if I want a repeater would it be possible to swap some of the magazine parts to allow proper feeding? I am really enjoying my striker, wish Savage still made them as I'd like to have a stainless one too. Mike

You'll need the bolt head for right hand in order to eject the round to the right and not the left ![]() You would need to replace the magazine box and follower but since the trigger linkage attaches to the bottom of the magazine box finding one may be difficult. You can probably install the bottom off your mag onto a 223 mag box but it will require quite a bit of effort removing the bottom plate and reinstalling not to mention installing the mag box to the receiver is a royal PIA. I would just drop in a single shot follower and be done. ![]() Rick

Also when changing bolt heads the firing pin size must be considered. See tech info at https://www.sharpshootersupply.com/ for info.

Or you could just get a 223 bolt head from a Striker. Contact me for details. Larry Tinkerer

Now that sounds like a good plan. I will send you an email. Mike
