I have a bolt gun build on the mind. I want to keep the overall barrel length no more than 15" and with 2" accounted for by the muzzle brake it leaves me with 13" of actual barrel to work with. Has anybody chrono'd a 13" barrel in 7mm-08 Rem with 130 grain bullets?

Not a 130gr but I have chrono'd 140gr partitions out of a stock 7BR that was rechambered to 7-08 which I think are 14" or 14.5" barrels. I was getting right at 2500fps. The load was a straight book load for rifle data.

I have an XP100 in 7-08, 14" of usable barrel, with 2" break. I have been shooting 140grn Ballistic Tips from it since 2007. I load Varget and Fed 210 primers. I get an average of 2440 fps. at 80 degrees from this bolt gun. I'm not pushing it real hard. I have taken two deer and two antelope with it.
I tried the 140grn. Berger VLD Hunter with same load and got 2385 over an average of 10 rounds.
One antelope was at 405 yds. using the 3x12 Ballistic Plex scope in Wyoming. I had a good rest on my pack and wind in my face. He took about two steps and rolled over backwards.

I realize there are differences, but just for comparison I'm running a Lehigh 175gr out of my 13" .308 Win and getting 2,400 fps.

Ya, I think I may to move up in bore size to alleviate some of the velocity loss rather than lengthen the barrel. How does 338 Federal sound?
