I'm thinking of rebarreling my XP currently 221 with a RemAge style barrel in the following
15" light sporter threaded 1 /2" 28 at muzzle
The plan would be to chamber it in 221 for now but later rechamber it to 222 or 223.
Im sure someone has thought of or tryed this.
Looking for input and also leads on this type barrel
It's doable. I think this is a better option for the nut barrels using the 1.20 nut, plus you can use any bodies barrel.
Just get it chambered in the cartridge you want from the start.
What Ric said. Have it how you want it from the get go.
Agreed but I have thousands of rounds of all 3 of the mentioned rounds all my reloads and have sold off many of the guns to shoot them in.
This why my thoughts.
Well just replaced the fireball barrel with a factory 223 barrel and wow this thing shoots!
Sold off most of the 222 stuff still have about 650 fireball rounds and don't think I'm going back.
They are listed in the classifieds
Are you using the XP in a rear grip, or center grip? If center grip, you have to deal with the recoil lug, meaning you have to take it out of the stock to time the lug back where it should be when tightening the barrel. If it's a rear grip, you may still have a recoil lug, or maybe the action is glued in, and no recoil lug?
If you have a lug and it is pinned properly, changing a barrel isn't that hard. But, why go through the pains of having to get a go gauge to set headspace? Any competent smith can chamber any number of barrels, that have the proper shoulder, and they will all headspace and barrel lettering will line up where they should be. It aint hard.
