jhalcottWhat ever is wrong with t h e 7-08? . I have a remington 788 in this caliber and am surprised often at its effectiveness and accuracy.

JfearsNothing wrong with it at all. Just changing it up is all

SawcarverPretty simple swap. Mine fed just fine out of a normal striker magazine. Should be as simple as spining the barrel off and a new one on.

tgpA 15-16" barrel will work nicely, go with a 1-8" twist and you'll be set for all bullet weights.

Nitemann6.5 Creedmoor, 16" McGowen SS, 1-8 twist. Came from the factory as a 243, then a 6.5x284 and now the 6.5 creed, same bolt face and feeds great from the magazine. Shoots pretty good too.

JfearsWill the varmint contour fit the factory stock? If not what contour will

NitemannThis is McGowen's straight, no taper for 3" then taper to .750 at 16". The factory stock was opened up and works fine but the edges are pretty thin at the forend. Several have used heavier but the forend edges are sanded away. They still work fine.

tinkererThe Striker barrel is approximately a varmint contour anyway. You MAY have to clearance a little.

My striker 22br has a straight taper from I think 1.20 or maybe 1.25" at the recoil lug to 1.05 at the muzzle on a 16" barrel. It is in the factory stock.
