When are you planning to produce these?

HaHa, not sure that I am (yet). I am seeing how hard it is to get them built right now. My little 3-D printer will only print a 4"x4"x4" part so it is rather tedious at the moment. Now if I had access to a 5-Axis CNC we could have some fun! I am going out of town in morning for ten days so I will not be able to comment or reply much after tonight. My daughter is rowing at Nationals in Sacramento! My thoughts are it will be easy to procure the Carbon fiber tube. The AR trigger either surface or direct mount need to be aluminum to bear directly on the recoil lug. The stock can be wood, fiberglass, plastic or aluminum since it is almost purely cosmetic except for attaching a bipod and I had an idea for that too.

I am more than willing to help refine one once we have working prototypes.

Fine job Brad, I can see the amount of thinking that has gone into this project so far. Best of luck to your daughter in the rowing contest.

Great job. I like the AR grip but wonder how well your trigger finger fits with this arrangement, length of reach and angle? It looks like maybe your finger would have to angle up to reach the trigger.
One of these stocks made out of aluminum would be pretty cool.

VERY nice work. Going to follow this closely. Thank you for taking on this project. Anything to further the world of SP's is a great and appreciated step.

Do they make solid 2 !/2 or 3 inch thick carbon fiber? After reading the post I started looking but do not see any. Is carbon fiber what Neal Cooper was using in his laminated strip of his stocks?

Very interesting, Brad. It's obvious you've put a lot of thought into the project. I'll also be following your project as it progresses. thumbup

Good luck and good hunting.

A solid carbon fiber block would be very expensive to make. The materials alone would kill a guy

You do not want solid carbon fiber, way too hard and heavy and a pain to machine. Skinned over for stiffness would be great.

carbon fiber skinned over balsa wood to keep it light. not being a design engineer that might be a bad idea. I have used balsa wood in rifle stocks to stiffen the for ends on flimsy stocks. they use a skin over balsa wood in the floor of corvettes to add strength and rigidity and keep the weight down.

I wonder how Delrin would work? I have machined Archery products out of black and white delrin and it works well. Just a thought.
