Buttstock removal Bell & Carlson? Login/Join

Picture of HandCanonShootr
posted
Recently I replied to: SAVAGE TARGET ACTION PISTOL STOCK QUESTION thread but I'm still thinking of other options to replace my Neil Cooper stock on my Savage PTA. (4.41") looking for Bench, F-class, Varmit styles

I have seen the cut down Choates, of course doing a laminate is easy. But how about cutting a Bell & Carlson? Has anyone done it? Easy to refinish? Any metal behind grip?

(B&C Tactical Medalist 2)

Thanks
Mike B

Well, taking the plunge. Just recvd the Medalist 2 stock. Test fit was great. minor barrel channel opening needed, forend not too long for my SP bbl.(no trim)
Looks like only cutting off Butt & finishing grip is all that's needed. Fit my Savage PTA great, looks like bedding not needed.

I'll update as project continues.

Just exchanged texts with Mk19, as had not shot with nor heard from him for a while. He's doing good, family & church his main occupation(s).

I'll take a few pics of the butt-ectomy, before & after.

How are you doing Jon? It's good to hear from you. Unfortinatly my health hasn't been the best lately so I haven't been shooting much..... well, actually at all. But I'm hoping that'll change soon so I can get back out there.

Thanks Freeze, sent you a few to post. Only thing left is finishing the cut area. I've been experimenting with tinting epoxy, in blk/charchol to finish over cut.

Went for a test shoot, and even tho I was shooting Load-D of a new bullet am very happy so far. The pistol shot in the 2s for the first time...

No bedding done.

Mike,

I will post the pics numbered as you sent them .... that way you can walk us through anything that might need explaining or others can ask questions about a specific step in the process.

By the way ... nice work.
