Never shot a 30br, shot many 7brs, got 2 more 7br xp's with this one. I just might shoot it first. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 4570 hunter,

That is pretty easy to determine. ![]() ------------------------------ It's not a break, it's a brake, unless it's a break, then it's broke ;-)

308 is the obvious choice. I'd pick something more exotic though. Aaron

I have xp in 308 already.

I have a 30BR with a 1-17 twist. I shoot 117 BIB bullets. If you are going to use high powered rifle scopes, watch out for scope impact on forehead.

I just picked them up from my gun shop. The 30br is a 1-14 twist.

That 14 twist should work perfectly for 115-125g bullets. Neck 6BR brass up in increment of .010" or somewhat close to that. Use a tapered expander and Redding graphite neck lube. Go from 6mm to .257", then .257" to .264", then .264"to .284", and finally .284" to .308". It's a lot of work but if you take it easy on the brass it will come out straight when you're done. Too many reloaders get impatient and go too fast and wind up with the necks pulled out of line. I've been shooting 30 BR for a few years and a 17-18 twist is normal for a rifle. For an XP a 14 twist will be more desirable.

.300 savage mite be interesting

I doubt if a 300 Savage reamer would clean up a 30BR chamber. The shoulder area of the BR chamber is a larger diameter at that location than the 300 Savage case body.
