Two or three years ago I sold all (4) of my XP's but one and it's a very low round count, factory center grip zytel stocked 7mm BR Silhouette model which I plan on hanging onto for awhile longer. I'm just curious is there anyway to figure out what year XP's were made by the serial number ?....mine is srl. # B7510***.This message has been edited. Last edited by: IKE, Vietnam veteran. "With the hundreds of different models produced over the past 200 years, it can sometimes be difficult to determine the age of your firearm. Since serial numbers were not required until 1968, your firearm may not have a serial number. For models without a serial number, we may be able to determine the age by the 2-3 letters that are stamped on the barrel. If your firearm does have a serial number, if you will call or email us the serial number and model number we can determine the approximate age of your firearm. Contact us through our Help Center by email at info@remington.com or call us at 1-800-243-9700 Mon-Fri 9-5 EST." Remington. Looks like I just found an XP-100 .223; made in April 1988, unmolested. Thanks, Bill Hunter- Prescott, AZ. NRA Life (1972) NRA Instructor; R,P,S, PP, RSO. USMC SS/A. CVMA, Chapter 32-3.

Nice find Bill, thought I had found every XP in Yavapai County. Did you get it from one of the gun store? Welcome to SP. Rick

Hello Rick, Took a chance, held my nose, bought one on Gunbroker. It appears straight but I will break it down and make sure. Then the real test at the range and eventually Coyote up on our mountain. Worse case; build it. Bill NRA Life (1972) NRA Instructor; R,P,S, PP, RSO. USMC SS/A. CVMA, Chapter 32-3.

Thanks Tom, Already a T/C addict too. Lucky in one respect as my young bride has been a Sales Rep. for Davidson's for the last 18 years and keeps feeding my habit! Bill NRA Life (1972) NRA Instructor; R,P,S, PP, RSO. USMC SS/A. CVMA, Chapter 32-3.

After a weekend of scrubbing and research, my conclusion is that this is an unmolested 1988 XP-100 Varmint Special. It would be a sin to modify this firearm in any way. Guess I'll just have to zero it and hunt with it. Kind of wanted one to tinker with, which means find another one down the road. B. NRA Life (1972) NRA Instructor; R,P,S, PP, RSO. USMC SS/A. Faked the weather out and went to the Range early. The 1988 XP-100 Varmint Special did not blow up. A bit of a surprise, was that it did "like" 75 gr. Hornady, but not so much my 52gr. NM "reduced course" AR load. Anyway, took the plunge and supported this site. Good info on here, deserves support. Bill NRA Life (1972) NRA Instructor; R,P,S, PP, RSO. USMC SS/A.
