I always wanted one when I was growing up(56 yrs old). I did the same thing with Contenders and man what a mistake ... 28 bbls and 7 frames later. I would like to ask what I should expect to pay for one in mint condition? Thanks, Mitch

Around here from a private individual, with box, brown zipper bag, and rear sight 500-600

When XP's are available in my area the are much more than that. I wish they were 5-600. Well, I guess I wish they were less than that.... Aaron

There must be a lot of variation in differing parts of the country. For example I just saw a post where somebody is buying pre-lock S&W revolvers for $300. All I can say is that is not here! Last one I saw in NH in good but not mint condition was $795

The last XP I purchased was $500 about a year ago. It was a newer 7mm BR version that someone had opened up to 7mm Int. I picked up for the donor action and plan to sell the remaining components when I get around to completing a build. I would expect to pay a bit more than that for an original XP in .221.

One in mint condition with the pouch will go $800-1000. If it's a four digit serial number 1963, it'll go another $300-500 in mint condition. I bought my first XP in 1964!

The problem is most sellers check a Blue Book of Gun Values and price according to the book. They rarely actually sell when priced that way. Gun Broker is full of idiots that think their XPs are worth $1,000 and they stay listed for weeks and months (some a year or more). No reserve penny start XPs in good to excellent shape will usually go for 600ish. It's been climbing as of late but it depends how patient you are. Good luck on the search.

If you are set on a centergrip set up you are stuck with the xp. Rear grip go for a custom receiver like a stiller or even a savage. These can be set up for lefties unlike a xp. ---------------------- Never argue with an idiot: they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience! I am that idiot.

I kind of have my mind set on one of those old school xp's with the space age looking stocks in .221 fireball. Thanks for your reply
