I've discovered that the XP-100 trigger mechanism where it bolts to the recoil lug apparently has screws that are staked. What is the best way to remove these screws? Thanks. Regards, Rog (Buttermilk421)

Actually, I just got them out. Anyone have some extra screws that hold the mechanism to the recoil lug? ![]() Thanks. Regards, Rog (Buttermilk421)

Rog, It depends on the severity of the staking. I usually start by removing the trigger assy from the receiver to you can swing it out of the way. A long screw driver that fits the slot as close as possible is of benefit. The longer screw driver will get you lined up better and offer more leverage. I have had to drill out many of these screws because they were staked so heavily ![]() If you end up ruining these screws, let me know and I'll send you some new ones. -Mike

Thanks Mike. I did actually ruin those screws... ![]() If you have some you can spare I'd appreciate it. Let me know how much to send you and I'll get you some funds to cover. Regards, Rog Roger Carlton 4806 Bermuda Circle Sand Springs, OK 74063 918-704-5913 Regards, Rog (Buttermilk421)

Rog, I'll get those machined sometime this week and on their way to you. They will be stainless steel allen head screws if that's alright? -Mike

You know the last time I was in Ace hardware(about 2 weeks ago) they had about four or five screw drawers marked "GUN SCREWS". I took a peek in one just curious didn't need any and the one I looked in had little screw like for scope base and so forth. Just wondering if anybody had noticed or seen this. Scott

Scott, you must have a special Ace Hardware, I'm always looking for those type of screws and our stores having nothing I'm looking for. Looks like I may need to go west. Rick

Mike, that is fine. Much appreciated! Thanks. Regards, Rog (Buttermilk421)

Resurrecting an ancient thread! I need two of the trigger housing to recoil lug screws. If someone knows the thread size/pitch I could probably modify some allen head (socket head) screws. Thanks.

OK it looks like the screws are 5-40 thread.

There is another option. I have drilled out a lot and re-tapped them to 6-48 and use torx head scope screws! Thanks. I have a 6-40 tap coming, figuring I could just use the existing threads and open them up from .125" to .135" diameter pretty easily. I have a set of Pachmayr torx head screws that includes two lengths of 6-40 with the correct head depth (.095"). Using a file and drill press, I reduced the head diameter to .184".
