700 rem action midgrip

Can a Remington short action single shot receiver be made into a midgrip?Maybe use a xp-100 recoil lug and trigger?Or is the length be too long or short for "transfer bar"-dont know what else to call it.And will the trigger work with the mounting pins?If so,can the xp100 stock be modified to work?
