Has anyone ever done one?

Ever seen one?

Just picked up a new, never used action and thinking a pistol would be pretty much one of a kind. But, if there are others around, I would certainly appreciate any words of wisdom.

I have a centergrip 40x rimfire. Kept barrel at ~18” so the overall length would be just over 26”. Extended linkage for trigger and made my own stock.

Before Remington went under they were producing a stainless single shot 40x style actions cheap. I've got one that I screwed a Brux barrel in 6mm Creedmoor on in a McMillan rear grip stock. I know a few other guys on here did the same thing.

If you have a new mfg solid bottom 700SA, they have become popular to make SP because they are cheaper than a XP. If your action is stamped 40X, you really have a unique item.

Gator, is that a cut down rifle?

Think I will build this pistol into a 6ppc. I have dies, brass, barrel blank, and it matches the bolt face. I have a compromised xp100 stock that I can modify (I hope). Any other suggestions on caliber?

Remington 40x with modified factory stock. I 3-D printed the back piece and fiber glassed it then painted it. Also built several other stocks for it.
