Has anyone tried a Mcgowen turbo muzzle brake?
Also any thought on any other brakes.

If you absolutely need to kill the recoil get a holland and be done with it

I put a VAIS brake on a .358JDJ because the recoil hurt to much to shoot that barrel. Now I can shoot many rounds working up hunting loads. There is a price to pay for a brake, the blast requires GOOD ear protection.

Never used the McGowen.
Chambering?

Holland's Radial Baffle is my favorite.
If I was going to get a full profile brake Vais

My Ross Schuler 3 port brake is very effective. My XP-100 7 SAUM barely moves when fired with this brake installed.

Whereever you get a brake from make sure it is hardened properly.
soft brakes will erode quite a bit quicker than a good hsrdened one.

Not very many brakes are hardened from my limited research.


Besides, the throat is likely to wear out quicker than the brake in most cases on a brake that's not hardened, particularly if the brake is made from the same material as the barrel.
