nmhunterVery nice!! Ken,looks like you may have started a picture thread. Can anyone else post their pistol rest?
Tom

rickiesrevengeI use the same rest. Love it. I've shot prairie dogs with my 17AH off of it to 300. Wanted to see what I could do @300 with my 35 wsm while shooting off the tri-pod. Could easily manage 1/2MOA
July 30, 2013, 11:36 PM
ErnieNice set-up Ken!
Shooting it much yet?
If this is a sitting field rest thread...
I have used the BOG-GEAR two different ways.

mark hamptonOK Ken, you asked for it. Thanks to nmhunter and his craftsmanship, I've got a rest to show you. Tom modified this baby and it works great. Will take a picture and post sometime today.

nmhunterHere are a couple of Pics of Mark's setup, converted PSR + heavy duty tripod.

mark hamptonThanks to nmhunter for posting; this set-up is similar to others posted. The PRS has been modified by Tom to fit a Slik tripod. I was having some issues and like many of you, always looking for a better mouse trap. The Slik tripod, like many other camera tripods, has adjustable, locking point legs. The tripod is very steady and quick to set-up. The modified PRS adapts to the tripod and makes a great field rest. Thanks to Tom Craft for all of his help.
July 31, 2013, 12:45 PM
drichiAny Idea which Slik tripod that is?
July 31, 2013, 12:54 PM
mark hamptonI believe it's the Pro 330 DX model.

mark hamptonI like it a lot; very effective. Even with the 270 WSM there is little felt recoil and no muzzle rise.
July 31, 2013, 02:16 PM
drichiThanks Mark, dave
July 31, 2013, 03:17 PM
bfr4570Shot it a few times with mid grip. I liked it a lot. The rear grip is right on the edge. The 260 doesnt kick that hard . Anything that was a harder kicker not sure I would like.

WV HitmanI gotta be the oddball. I like mine a lot. Portable, easy to carry, plus I can carry a lot of stuff in both and still shoot off them:
July 31, 2013, 06:22 PM
mark hamptonDoc, You're not the only oddball. I use the backpack more often than not. Unfortunately, there are circumstances where the backpack is not an option.
July 31, 2013, 07:02 PM
bfr4570I practice off my back pack all the time. People at the range think Im nuts. But when I get the chance to come out west I want to be ready.

WV HitmanI've done the back thing several times. Gotta make sure of two things:
#1-the back belongs to a friend
#2- No one, I mean , absolutely, NO ONE is looking!

docjon2013Quick question--Is that bog pod set up work good enough for calling coyotes while sitting against a tree? Does it track well is it steady enough?
Thanks
Jon
August 03, 2013, 12:57 AM
nmhunterI have a couple of bog pods and they work, not as sturdy as a camera tripod for me. Others should respond., many on here use them more than i do.

BobMIt's "said" that the shooter and his spotter are "very close" but REALLY?

You suppose he feels the "brake breeze" from that .338 Lapua?

nmhunter,
What makes a camera tripod more sturdy then the HD Bog Pod? I have been looking at getting a HD Bog Pod but now you have me thinking twice, they are not cheep. Please let us know what you think.
Thanks
Dave

nmhunterThe legs don't lock at different angles like a camera tripod does, to much movement at the PSR connection. I do use my bogpod with the Y Yoke & my sniper rest works great for a quick setup and medium distance.
The camera tripod is a more solid setup & different attachments can be added, psr, plate (use harris bipod with) , spotting scope etc

XP 358Anyone tried the new Trigger Stick 2 Point accessory rest?
August 05, 2013, 04:16 PM
dustymoahunterThe front rest is an older "fuzz" rest. I cut it down, threaded a new hole for the third foot, and threw some new paint on it. It works very well. The only thing I wish it had is windage adjustment.

Bought one today. Report will follow next week. I love the Primos Trigger Stick base adjustability. I will have to modify a little but,if this 2 Point rest does what it should, I will be cooking with peanut oil. I will be happy happy happy. I will be....you get the idea.

drichinmhunter, I am looking at modifing a PSR rest to mount on a camera tripod, any advice on how to mount to camera stud? Can the PSR pin be pulled out? It dosn't look like it screws in, as it does on the rifle yoke. thanks, dave
August 09, 2013, 01:25 PM
drichiFor anyone interested I found out that the pin in the PSR rest is held in by a nut from the top and then can be pressed out from the top. dave
August 09, 2013, 02:50 PM
nmhunter
here is what the steps are.
nmhunter parts were obtained from Ace Hardware/
August 09, 2013, 03:53 PM
drichidid you tap the rest or use a nut on top? dave
August 09, 2013, 04:46 PM
nmhunterused teh existing nut from the post.
You will have to remove the bolt from the camera shoe also and use a longer bolt and washer to attach shoe to psr.

Since the BOG POD PSR is no longer available, this might be a good option.

ArrowflingerChris,
That is the exact set up I used in Africa and on the bear hunt I just posted about. I feel so solid on that set up, I wouldn't hesitate to take 4-500 yard shots as long as everything else (wind, calm animal, etc ) is right. My furthest was 355 in Africa on a Black Wildebeest.
